Chitwan Tigers suffered first defeat of the Everest Premier League 2021 campaign. In a battle of two unbeaten teams of the season, Bhairahawa Gladiators rode on Pradeep Airee's match winning 72 runs to secure the second win of the league round. Gladiators completed the chase of 165 runs in 17.5 overs for the loss of four wickets. Karim Janat's two wickets went in vain as Tigers failed to limit the batting lineup including the star players like Sri Lanka's Upul Tharanga and Bangladesh's Tamim Iqbal. Similarly, Sagar Dhakal and Bhim Sharki shared a wicket each. Earlier, Tigers won the toss and elected to bat first. Foreign players Janat, Mohammad Shahzad and Seekkuge Prasanna contributed 35, 32 and 24 runs respectively to help Tigers put 164 runs in 20 overs for the loss of eight wickets. Tigers rested key players like skipper Sompal Kami and Shahab Alam to provide debut for Chitwan's local player Gautam KC and Dev Khanal in the playing XI. Tigers have already secured a playoffs place. Tigers will face either Gladiators or Pokhara Rhinos for a place in final on Wednesday.
