We are enthralled to unveil our Marquee Player Sompal Kami as the Skipper of Chitwan Tigers for the forthcoming season of Everest Premier League (EPL), Nepal’s premier T20 league. Earlier, Kami has taken a release from Kathmandu Kings XI, his previous franchise, to join Chitwan Tigers for the fourth season of the EPL. His appointment as a captain has further reaffirmed the all-rounder’s rise to prominence as one of the leading members of the Nepal cricket team. Tigers have enormous belief in Kami’s leadership qualities to lead a young squad to a competitive campaign in Nepal’s most exciting cricket festival. The fastest bowler Nepal ever produced, Kami’s wealth of experience at the international stage for Nepal and overseas cricket leagues will be invaluable for the franchise. Kami represented Maratha Arabians during the third season of the Abu Dhabi T10 league and finished with the best bowling figures for a fast bowler. He has already represented current champions Winnipeg Hawks during the last edition of Global T20 League. Considered as an ideal role model for young players, Kami completed 100 international wickets in the recently concluded T20I Tri-series held in Kathmandu. He was lauded for emerging as the leader of the attack and also chipped in with the bat when required. Previously, his 61 against Netherlands in Nepal’s first ODI win was equally important as his series-winning five-wicket-haul (5-33) against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in January 2019. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has sanctioned the 2021 season of EPL. It is all set to take place from September 25th to October 09th. The dates were approved by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) and preparations are underway for what probably is Nepal’s biggest sporting event. The tournament spreads over 3 Saturdays, which is sure to draw cricketing enthusiasts in large numbers. The production contract of EPL stays intact with One Sport and the league will broadcast on various platforms worldwide. “I am thankful to Tigers management for trusting me with the leadership responsibilities for the next season of EPL. I am equally excited to start with it. I look forward to enjoying the role as well as face the challenges that come with it,”Sompal Kami, Captain, Chitwan Tigers. “Sompal (Kami) exhibits leadership qualities. We are confident in his abilities as a cricketer and believe he is the perfect personality to lead our young and dynamic squad of players. His international experiences as a franchise player in T10 and T20 leagues will further help elevate his game and simultaneously lead by the example,” Binita Chaudhary Bhattarai, Operations Director, Chitwan Tigers.
