Chitwan Tigers’ preparations for Everest Premier League is in full flow under the leadership of a coaching team which includes Delhi former cricketer Puru Singh. The 40-year-old Singh is appointed as team manager and assistant coach by Tigers for the forthcoming season of the premier T20 league starting on September 25. Motivating cricketers is key to success according to Singh. “The science behind cricket inspires me to evolve myself and impart that knowledge to the future generation. We can mentally stimulate each young cricketer to be the best they can,” Singh said. Singh and the coaching team are impressed by the progress cricketers are making in the training. The lack of match practice has always been a big challenge with lack of domestic cricket in Nepal. “We have devised some methods that help players get the taste of match scenarios. Players will gradually get fit, mentally and physically, for the first match”, he added. Current ICC Level II coach, Singh is a former Delhi State Ranji Trophy player and featured in seven seasons rubbing shoulders with the likes of Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh and Ashish Nehra to name a few. A squad of 16 players including the talent hunt players from Chitwan are working in close quarters with the Tigers coaching team in a secure bio-bubble organized by Tigers. Chitwan Tigers announced Dilip Nath as a Vice Captain for Bajaj Pulsar EPL 2021. Dilip Nath is a member of the historic team which achieved One-day International (ODI) status for Nepal in 2018. The player from Dadeldhura, the far-western part of Nepal, is hailed as a rare talent. The left-handed batsman is unique in Nepal’s context with the ability to keep wickets and open the batting. The combination of three skills make him one of the best utility players to have in the side. A regular in franchise cricket, Nath also has a permanent job at Nepal Police Club, the departmental team. He so far has played seven matches for Chitwan Tigers in Everest Premier League spanning two seasons. He is more than determined to do well and create an impact for Tigers in this third season for the franchise.
